  1. I recognise the lilac breasted roller even without his lilac breast! — And I used to play with a crowned crane when I was little (so I am told, I don’t remember). We were racing each other in the nearby park where he spent his summers. 😀 Great shots, Debbie!

      • The lilac breasted roller sits on every second pole or power line in South Africa. It was the only smaller bird in South Africa I could identify – it impressed the socks off any visiting friend and relative! The LBR is really much more impressive in flight – because of the stunningly brilliant turquoise of his wing feathers.
