Part of the Van Gogh route, Arles, France, August 2017
Van Gogh lived in Arles between February 1888 and May 1889, creating some of his best known works. Several of the locations featured in his works have been identified and feature on a self-guided walk around the city and its surroundings. The route can be downloaded here.

Le Pont de Trinquetaille, Arles, August 2017
I’ve never done the actual work, but it has been fun spotting a site during my own explorations of the city. Some of them require a considerable amount of imagination to tie the current day to Van Gogh’s time.

Big fan of Van Gough. Wanted to be an art major but just did not have the talent. Enjoy yours.

Goodness, tourism! When I visited Arles, in, I think 1982 and 1989 there was no such thing!!

How cool
This is!
Would love to see it and at the time Vincent lived in Arle – well could you imagine someone telling him he’d be so remembered there – not just the yellow house but a route!! – he would not have believed it

Sadly he would not. And now there are reminders of him everywhere in Arles (and elsewhere in the world)
