Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai, April 2018
Three columns, each 9 metres in diameter, rise from the ground to support 11 spheres of varying sizes, with the 2 largest having diameters of 50m and 45m. It was opened in 1994 as the tallest structure in China, at 468 metres, but lost that title to the Shanghai World Financial Centre in 2007.

The tower shines pink around it larger spheres, but at night it takes on a different personality, lit in brightly coloured LED sequences.
Although there are now taller and more modern structures, the Oriental Pearl takes a key role in the image of the Bund.

I remember being mesmerised by Shanghai’s skyline . It truly is memorable . Moreover we have an antique tapestry of the BUND whichhas been completely transformed as has the Pu Dong area from where the scene on our tapestry is viewed
