The work of Simple G, Athens, March 2019

Simple G is a Greek street artist. He comes with a background in fine arts, having studied at the Greek National School of Fine Arts, but he has been specialising in murals since 2009. His work can be found around Athens, the rest of Greece, and further afield.

This mural was created for the annual festival, Petit Paris d’Athenes, in 2018.

  1. A magnificent fresco on the wall of a city that has become very sad in recent years, where unemployment, poverty and repression continue to grow. Street artists try to give meaning and add a little beauty to a world that is very deprived of it.

    • I could sense the discontent in the scrawled graffiti around the city.
I was only there on a short visit, but the economy seemed to be improving. Too slowly for many, I’m sure.

  2. What a beauty, Debs! I love the sparkle of the umbrella, and that little boy’s expression is priceless. You need to be having words with those unhappiness engineers again, because I love sharing your stuff. 😦 🙂
