Edinburgh Castle

This wonderful place had to be included in this month of top squares; both for its top physical position and its top beauty. It is the top site for visitors in Scotland, and second top in UK. And the rock on which the castle stands has a long and fascinating history, starting at least as far back as the Iron Age (2nd century AD).
I have shared views like this throughout the life of this travel blog, so it’s clear that you must get Edinburgh if you ever get the chance. And if you want to find the best places to create great images of the city, I recommend a walk with James Christie Photography. I joined one of his walks about 5 years ago and I still return to the places he showed me. He’ll give you lots of tips on photography, take you to the best viewpoints (and not necessarily the obvious ones), and he’ll tell tales of the city’s history and his life as a professional photographer.

Beautiful photos! It’s a shame the Fringe won’t be going ahead this year – always a highlight of the summer for me!

Absolutely. I had a fantastic time last year – never been to so many shows, and all but one were brilliant!

I have a friend who has a flat there – and I borrow at as often as I can! Take a look at James’ website even if you just want to gaze at great images of Scotland – he does a variety of trips outside Edinburgh too.
