Centre Point, Oxford Street, London, July (above) and August (below) 2020
Centre Point has had a potted history. It was built in the 1960s, empty until 1975, offices until 2015 and now luxury apartments.

Travel with Intent 
Always seemed such a long way to walk here from where I worked on Oxford St for a few years – think mostly because of the number of people!!

The rush of youth, maybe? I worked on Store Street for a while and used to dash to Neal’s Yard for lunch occasionally, but it was always a race against time. And the crowds seem to be building again BTW – Oxford Street was quite busy on Thursday

I wish I could say it was youth but was only 10 years ago . . .there again guess that was youth in a way!!!!

I’m assuming they couldn’t get the deal they wanted and with property values rising they preferred to wait. It got a lot of complaints and became known at the Empty Skyscraper. Some homeless campaigners also got in and protested there for a week or so. We now have a charity for the homeless named after this building – not because the building supports the charity, but to make a point.

Yes, it’s nicely lit at night. And that is becoming a smart junction on Oxford Street as the modernise Tottenham Court Road tube station
