I always remember Anna Magnani (probably before your time) the Italian actress who starred with, I think, Burt Lancaster. in The Rose Tattoo, whose face was described as ‘like an old leather handbag left out in the rain’. That stuck with me (and of course, no one would dare say such a thing today) and your bark recalled it.
