Tidal pool at Walpole Bay, Margate, Kent, July 2021
If you fancy a splash in a tidal pool, there are plenty around. Here are a few of the pools in the UK:
• Chapel Pool, Polperro
• Cleveden Marine Lake, North Somerset
• The Trinkie, Wick, Caithness
• North Berwick, East Lothian
• Priest’s Cove Pool, Cape Cornwall, Cornwall
• Bude, Summerleaze, Beach, Cornwall
• The Rock Pool, Westward Ho! Bideford, Devon
• Dancing Ledge, Swanage
• Shoalstone Pool, Brixham, Devon
And one of my favourites, just across the channel:
• Saint Malo, Brittany

It is, indeed. And there’s a cafe on the cliff above with good views

How interesting! I also like that you can walk all the way around.

At very high tide it vanishes, but at low tide the pool walls appear and people walk out along the wall to get into the deeper end of the pool. I was out for an early walk every morning, to avoid the heat, and it was a popular spot for a morning swim

Oh what fun. By the looks of it, we northerners are deprived of one of these..

I think the lists I used were all rather southern focused!
Or maybe you northerners just don’t need a pool to protect you from the wild and hardy sea 😉
