For me jacarandas are Pretoria and to a lesser extent Johannesburg/Gauteng in spring, i.e. in November. The whole city (in the case of Pretoria) is swathed in lilac!

It’s an amazing tree – it manages to cover the tree and the surrounding area in beautiful purple

oh wow Debbie, this is stunning. What a square. Do you know we’ve never actually seen the jacaranda in mainland Portugal. We’ve always returned to the UK before it is fully out.

Now that is very sad 😦
I would set that as a key goal for 2022

Reminds me of the purple flowers that so often lie on the ground or patio in our backyard.

That’s lovely, though sad to see the blossom on the floor meaning the jacaranda trees are losing their colour.

They always seem to have plenty to wear and share, but this year’s end is nigh

Beautiful blossoms and a rather wistful poem….I read more of it

Yes, I chose the happier words. Lovely that it was something as beautiful as a jacaranda that triggered his fond memories.

They are so lovely, Debs, and that’s a beautiful shot, full of pathos. They’ve all just about gone for another year.now.

I have missed seeing them 😦 For me they simply sing “Spain and Portugal in Spring”
