Empty squares

It’s the start of a new month of squares with Becky, and for October we are looking back at old themes, old square posts or old memories. My plan is to revisit the theme of lines, but using my travels of 2021.

So let’s kick off with not just lines, but squares: I found these empty shapes around the archaeological park in Siracusa. They are believed to be votive niches, now missing their models of divinities. This was part of the cult of the dead of the Hellenistic period, from the 4th to 1st century BC. This ancient site in Siracusa seems a great way to kick off a mini-tour of Sicily. Let’s see where these lines lead us.
