Love those reflections! But I shan’t be going…

Never been there but would like to spend just a couple of nights in Blackpool, I think. May still manage it one day. Great reflections, especially the mermaid.

It’s well worth doing for one or two nights, just to see the ups and downs this place has been through as a beach resort. The long, long sandy beach is wonderful, there’s a good restaurant with views to sea, fantastic sunsets, efficient trams along the coast, lovely modernist architecture at the Pleasure Beach, views from the tower. Just avoid the drunken hoards around the pubs.

Wouldn’t be Blackpool without a bit of wind and rain, and the reflections are wonderfully atmospheric. Like Andrew, a good few years since I was there.

These are great – especially the first one. Never been, don’t intend to. You’ve saved me the bother.

That first one is especially good. I haven’t been to the illuminations since 1976.

That is a long gap! I was there briefly in the 1990s. I don’t find them that impressive these days. Some of the individual lights are great, like the mermaids, and the decorated heritage trams are lovely, but overall I didn’t get a wow feel.
