This odd Russian idiom, куда царь пешком ходит, means going to the toilet. Apparently, the toilet was the only place the Czar wasn’t carried to.
It seems this habit also applied to other former leaders, with wo der Kaiser zu Fuß hingeht still used in German.

🙂 We use that in the German language as well. We don‘t say Tsar though – we say „Kaiser“ 😉

Yes, I like the Rotterdam one – it’s from the Citizen M chain of hotels, if you come across one once travelling. Worth a look as they like their quirky art
