Unexpected sun

A stormy day in St Albans, Hertfordshire, November 2022

The early 17th century timber framed building on the Market Square on St Albans always looks great, but this sudden burst of sun added to its appeal. I love its high pitched roof, the dormer windows and the casual slant of the second floor. The date 1637 is visible on the side of the building, the first storey windows are 18th century and the ground floor shopfront dates back to around 1900. What history! And it’s worth a look inside too.
