Altering the face of the world

Yesterday, Sue at Words Visual posted a photo of one of the murals on the Berlin Wall at the East Side Gallery in the 1990s. Since Sue’s visit, this decorated portion of the wall has been renovated, often by the original artists from its 1990 creation.

Here are a couple of shots of it from 2015 and 2017.

East Side Gallery, Berlin, May 2015

and again in May 2017, using a fisheye as the wall was hidden behind a wire fence

To see another classic mural from the wall in its 2015, 2017 and 2022 state, click here.

And I’m back in Berlin for a week or two so maybe I’ll have some more Berlin street art to share soon.

  1. Love this. A beautiful quote and I have been at the Berlin wall as well. Our city of Christchurch has received a few pieces of the wall not long ago

  2. yes so true- many small actions can make a change- like save the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves. Graffiti and subversive text can be so powerful ( Antoni Tapies and Picasso for example) I missed the colourful graffiti when I was in Berlin too. Maybe another trip is called for?
