Peace doves in St Albans Cathedral, Hertfordshire, January 2024
10,000 paper doves are hanging down from inside the 1,000 year old Norman tower in St Albans Cathedral. This stunning installation is the work of sculptor, Peter Walker.
The display runs until 13 February 2024, and there are number of events taking place in conjunction with this, including late night viewings with musical accompaniment and a performance of Romeo and Juliet by OVO (a great performance that I have already seen at the Open Air Theatre). I love the lines in those first two shots, Debbie. I can’t imagine the time it took to make 10,000 of these beauties! But it was well worth it, at least for those of us viewing it. 🙂

We had the Doves a couple of years ago at Derby Cathedral. They were not as impressive as the images seen of displays in large Cathedrals and Derby just doesnt have that sort of height.

Yes the height certainly helped. I’m hoping to get along to one of the night openings when it should look even better. And with my camera rather than phone.
