    • Yes, we left a lot of things behind when we left. I had several local people thanking me as a Brit for giving them trains and knowledge of the English language. As for the post boxes, whilst we did have a phase of green post boxes in Britain, the colours in Sri Lanka were used to mean the type of post rather than being tied to era. As far as I can tell, the green meant local post in Colombo, while the red ones were general post. There were also some blue ones, not for air mail as our blue ones used to be, but for post to metro cities.
