Clan House, shipping agency for the Clan Line shipping company established 1847,
Galle, Sri Lanka, April 2025

The office was closed in 1999 and appears to have seen some other uses since its shipping company days. It is now in a sad state of repair but plans are to turn it into a boutique hotel.

oh wow what a find – thank goodness for gallery curation as otherwise I would have missed it. The grandchildren were wonderful to have staying but I do seem to have lost multiple posts over the weekend as a result!

It’s still got character. Hopefully the redo will as well.

Galle has had some amazing refurbs done, though plenty more still to save.

Buttoning….Wonder what the heck that means?? A boutique hotel– have their work cut out for them.

I wonder too. And yes, much work required but it could look wonderful if it happens

Oozing history. The security guard let me in and gave me a mini tour – for a tip!

Worth it though, I’m sure.

Oh, what a brilliant find! Love that last image of considerable decay

Yes, it must have been beautiful in its heyday. I would love to stay there if it turned into a hotel
