The Fuji Five Lakes area is situated at the northern base of Mount Fuji. It makes the perfect stopover point from which to climb Mount Fuji. The five lakes (Kawaguchiko, Saiko, Yamanakako, Shojiko and Motosuko) were formed by previous eruptions of Mount Fuji.
It is a beautiful, peaceful, green area, reminiscent of the English Lake District.
Lake Kawaguchi is the most commonly visited: it is a lively town with a number of hotels and restaurants, and a cable car (Tenjō-Yama Park Mt. Kachi Kachi Ropeway) for spectacular views of the town and lake.
When you have had enough of peace and beautiful scenery, you can take your adrenaline rush on the rollercoasters at Fujikyu Highlands.
