Tokyo is a city of many contrasts…
…of high and low
.
…of traditional and modern
.
…of crazy and cute
.
…of sleek and ramshackle:
.
…of Western and Eastern
It was this juxtaposition of old and new, of Western and Eastern, that hit me most when I visited Tokyo. Narrow streets, with small buildings and overhead cables evoke thoughts of a bygone era, yet right next to them stands a modern skyscraper. Traditional street food and traditional dress sit happily alongside top restaurants (there are 242 restaurants with Michelin stars in Tokyo, 14 of which have 3 stars), designer clothes and Disney, of all things!
