Port Aventura, near Salou in Spain, makes a great day out for the kids if you’re visiting Barcelona or Tarragona. It is a pleasant theme park, with a good mix of rides, clean, open spaces and reasonable food.
The park is divided into several country areas, with food and amusements themed to match. The recently added roller coaster, Shambhala, is the highest roller coaster in Europe at 76 metres, and has the longest fall in Europe of 78 metres.
It is also a great place to cool down in the summer months.
For more water, head next door to the newly renovated Costa Caribe Aquatic park.
