These vine-adorned windows belong to Afflecks, a large store that is home to over 70 individual units. It opened initially in 1981 as Afflecks Palace but went through some troubled times, closing in 2008 and opening again as just Afflecks in 2008. This is a go-to place Manchester retail outlet for vintage shopping. And pretty on the outside too.

This facade is fabulous – a silver creeping vine or moss that adds a hint of whimsy to the already beautiful building. The attraction that it generates is better than any other form of advertising…

Very interesting Debbie. Is it split up into separate shops or is it one huge department store?

Oh! Nostalgia! I remember it as Affleck’s Palace… not sure I remember (if they were even there then) these beautiful boughs though…. Lovely!

I went to Manchester quite a few times (I used to have a pen-pal in Disley) but never noticed it! Fabulous!

I think it has only been there a year or two. Worth a look if you get back.

Oh that is adorable! I am assuming that the building originates from much earlier than 1981? It looks like an old warehouse – great windows!
