First of all, apologies for being late with this week’s challenge; I’m having a week of non-stop travelling and meetings, and unreliable wi-fi.

So it’s a quick post this week, from the coast at Den Haag, in the Netherlands. The beautiful blue sky belies a chilly day with strong winds and hail storms.  I didn’t stay long because both my camera and I were suffering from sand-blasting.

The wide and empty sandy beach looked beautiful though and  the wind brought out kites and surf boards galore.  I would show you, but I can’t upload photos at the moment!

The lighthouse itself is a national monument (rijksmonument) dating back to 1875. It was designed by Quirinus Harder, a Dutch architect. It is made of cast iron, with 432 plates and 4,600 bolts, and stands 49m tall.

    • It was obviously well designed to get that reaction from you. In fact, it dates back to 1875 – I’ve just got back to UK and have added a brief history to the post.
