Spring Flowers in Rembrandt Gardens

From the title of this post, you may think I’m still in Amsterdam, but no, I’m back in London.

These gardens, first laid out in the early 1950s and known as Warwick Avenue Gardens, gained their current name in 1975 when the City of Westminster was twinned with Amsterdam.  The tulips here now may well be descendants of the ones gifted to the London gardens by Amsterdam.

The fading black tulips still provide a great contrast for the bright oranges and yellows.

  1. Interesting story! I never have seen black tulips before and I’m not really sure if I like them :)…The play between the orange-yellow flowers and the dark tulips looks very much like seventies 🙂
    Enjoy a wonderful weekend!!!

    • Im just moving into a new house with a completely blank canvas of a garden. I think black tulips may be a feature for next spring!

  2. The first time i see tulips as weeds in some sidewalks of Sweden, i am so awed. I am used to see them only in flower shops and in arrangements. When i saw a black one like that, can you imagine my restraint of not being able to get it even if it’s just a weed?!!
