Heron on the Water of Leith

The grey heron is relatively common in the UK: you’ll find the around any area of water, even garden ponds, as they feed largely on fish.  But they also eat small birds and mammals; after harvest time, you may see them around fields searching for rodents.

This particular beauty was on the Water of Leith.  He stood in the water for a while, proudly posing for my photos.

  1. I love this takes Debbie. I was in London last week and I took a pic of some kind of heron too :D. Your takes are amazingly sharp. How close were you?
