“You can sit here for breakfast or have a snack at any time…there are great examples of street art on the walls… and dogs are welcome at Gorila Cafe Bar, where they are greeted with water when it’s hot and a warm welcome the rest of the time.”

I love Madrid and I love dogs, though I haven’t had the opportunity to combine the two yet. But I can’t resist buying travel books wherever I go and Madrid con Perro caught my eye on a recent wander around a Madrid bookshop. It makes a handy guide to shopping and eating in Madrid even if you don’t have a dog, and if you like dogs you’ll adore the photos. They also produce dog-friendly guides to other Spanish cities and have a helpful website.
The quote at the start of this post features Gorila Cafe, which happened to be the first cafe I went into on my very first wander around Malasaña, in 2013. I don’t have any photos of my own – must have been enjoying breakfast too much to get the camera out! So instead I’ll share the photo from the book.

I love places that are dog friendly environments, so wonderful to see!

The book is full of great photos like that – the dog is very well travelled!

And I have to say, Madrid seems much more pet friendly than London
