I read an article on travel writing recently; it recommended writing a list of your assumptions, expectations and imaginings about the place before you get there. The idea behind this is that it gives you something to check back against later.
So I thought I’d give it a go for my next few trips. It’s fun to do – makes you realise how your expectations are coloured by so many things – chance comments you hear, films, books, previous trips, blogs, travel guides,…
I have been to Copenhagen once before, around twenty five years ago, for a day or two and I really don’t remember much at all. It will be a brief trip again this week, but I will have a day to myself to just wander – thoughts and photos will follow soon!

I went to the twinkling gardens many years ago – it was magical. Look forward to seeing your photos.

I love Copenhagen from a few brief visits, I have heard that the open top bus is a great way to see some of the sights.

I find the open top buses are a great starter when new to a city. They aren’t open top at the moment though in Copenhagen it is too cold, wet and windy!

I hope you will share your prior assumptions, and where these were turned on their head! 😀
