The One Four Challenge is on a month’s recap / break so I thought I’d have a little play with a few more black and white edits of my previous One Four photos.
I loved my horses in the Camargue shot and I was already pleased with the black and white version, but I thought I’d try a tighter crop. I also sharpened it up a bit more so that the water splashes really zing out and then lowered the exposure a little.
Next was my Hyde Park daisies. I hadn’t done a black and white version, so I’ve put that right now with a fairly simple edit. I’ve sharpened, added clarity and reduced the highlights and I like the result.
Next I went back to that beautiful modern house on the canals of Venice, California. I wanted a high key black and white this time, and also went for a widescreen crop. I think this version worked well – probably my favourite of all the Venice house edits.
Finally, it was the turn of the Disney Concert Hall. I have added a very slight hint of blue to the highlights, lightened the shadows, sharpened some more and added a spot of clarity and a little more contrast.
Here are all the black and white versions, old and new:

Great idea to turn them all to b&w, very beautiful images.

I love the horses, but I really like it in the old version too.

Can you guess which one is my favourite? 😉 Your monochrome stuff is as good as your colour photography!

The horses, especially, are beautiful! The water most definitely zings out–it’s coming right off the page!

Wonderful to see your B&W gallery. Most enjoyable and I do like the tighter crop on the horses too! One of my all time favourites of all the One Four images! I think this is a great idea Debbie 😃
