Both Arms stretch out in Mandela Gardens in Leeds.

They are a 16ft tall bronze sculpture created in 2000 by the Leeds-born sculptor Kenneth Armitage (1916-2002).

I must say they look a little creepy to me too but I’m sure they seem more welcoming in real life.

Yes, they’re a bit odd, but I really like them and the feeling and message behind them.

Considering I live so near I haven’t been to Leeds in ages, can’t remember ever seeing these, they remind me of Beetlejuice for some reason 😀 Quite a fitting title for a New Year!

I used to work at the library and art gallery in the centre of Leeds, so it’s lovely to see these arms again!

Always happy to oblige!
I liked the hands very much and didn’t realise then that they were the work of such a revered sculptor
