A colourful note:  wisteria, a light lavender colour, entered the Crayola family in 1992, as an unnamed new shade in their big naming competition.  Teenager Lisa MacIldoon won with wisteria for this crayon and it is still a Crayola colour.

The first recorded use of wisteria as a color name in English was in 1892.  It is a popular plant, with delicate colour and an oriental charm.  It’s real plus point is that it grows the happiest in a wet spring and can cheer up us rain-sodden humans.

  1. Oh… that was one of my first records that I bought as a teenager, and one of my first idols, still love that one. Wasn’t it called Parallel lines? Really cool street art!!

    • Me too, There’s some amazing stuff out there. I’ve seen a lot of those phoneboxes around – they pop up in a lot of places and always stand out
