Inside Tate Modern, London, September 2016
This industrial looking area is known as The Tanks. During the building’s former life as a power station, this where the oil was stored. The gallery has maintained the rough, industrial look and now uses this area to display new art, whose modernity contrasts strongly with its surroundings.

Yes! This is part of the original Tate Modern building and was the oil tanks back in the days of power station life. Thanks for your comment Sue- made me realise I had lost the explanation of the location – now added back!!

It’s quite a confusing place to manoeuvre around inside now. The link between old and new buildings isn’t on all floors and I certainly managed to get lost!
