Pataphysical Portrait

ShoreditchDSC0599120170123-1

Portrait of Alfred Jarry,  Pitfield Street,  Shoreditch,  London,  January 2017

Alfred Jarry (1873 – 1907) was a French writer known best for his play “Ubu Roi” and his creation of the term pataphysics, a concept in which every event in the universe is accepted as an extraordinary event.

The portrait above is on a wall next to the fascinating Bookartbookshop, a spot where a variety of murals commissioned by the shop appear.  Both the wall and the shop are worth a visit.
