Part of the Van Gogh route,  Arles,  France,  August 2017

Van Gogh lived in Arles between February 1888 and May 1889, creating some of his best known works.  Several of the locations featured in his works have been identified and feature on a self-guided walk around the city and its surroundings. The route can be downloaded here.

I’ve never done the actual work, but it has been fun spotting a site during my own explorations of the city. Some of them require a considerable amount of imagination to tie the current day to Van Gogh’s time.

  1. How cool
    This is!
Would love to see it and at the time Vincent lived in Arle – well could you imagine someone telling him he’d be so remembered there – not just the yellow house but a route!! – he would not have believed it
