I’ve shared many of my bluebell shots before, but I couldn’t do a month of blues without a re-edit of one of my favourites.

The Impressionists are proud, Debbie, but what’s ICM?

Sorry, I should talk in English. It’s intentional camera movement. A fun thing to try in lots of settings, but I don’t often think to try it out. However, it works well in woods. A vertical move of the camera during shot keeps the trees obvious but blurs the flowers well. This one was handheld, and 1/5 second. Then I boosted the colour a little and added texture and clarity in Lightroom.

That’s quite cool, a very ethereal effect. Can I ask what ICM is?

It means Intentional Camera Movement. This was handheld, but it can be done on tripod or moped too. Movement during a long-ish exposure creates this impressionist effect.

Now that’s lovely. It really catches the spirit of an English woodland in spring.

I liked using ICM to capture the mass of “blueness” and added texture, clarity and more blue than purple sum up the edit. Glad you like it, Becky
