Willemsbrug, Rotterdam, January 2020
This striking red bridge (see it peeking over the yellow cube houses?) is the Willemsbrug. It crosses the Nieuwe Maas in Rotterdam, linking the northern part of the city with the Noordereiland. It was designed by C. Veerling and named after King Willem III of the Netherlands. It opened in 1981 to replace an old bridge that was struggling to cope with increased traffic.
It stands out cheerfully at night, as seen in the image below (which is a night view of the grey daytime view I shared yesterday)
