Nice pictures. This is a great pub and happily enjoys Grade II status so future developers shouldn’t be able to interfere with the interior, which has happened in so many other London pubs down the years. The pub has a Victorian Snob Screen around the bar, a glass panel that obscures the bar staff from the customer, allowing Victorian drinkers some anonymity. The only other one of these I know about is in the Lamb near to Great Ormond Street Hospital. The pub opened in 1872 and the first Landlord was William Whale, who had previously run a Beer Shop on the site.

Oh thank you for all the information. I was dashing to a meeting outside a coffee shop but I thought I needed to return to see it in more detail (and imbibe). And I must have walked past The Lamb umpteen times too. Thanks again
