Emptiness continues during lockdown 3.0 in the UK. London is different at weekends, when residents emerge to relax and exercise, but mid-week it is very quiet and still.

Do hope the few lockdown positives somehow last beyond lockdown

I’d love to see sights like this in person. Any idea when Britain will re-open?

We are opening slowly internally from 29 March with more internal travel allowed and groups of 6 meeting outside. Outdoor restaurants opening from 12 April if infection rates are holding. I am not sure about foreign travel and quarantine rules.

Looking forward to travel again. I’m getting older and panicky!

Wow; extraordinary image Debbie. Last time I was there, the Oxford St tube entrances were being closed because there were just too many people to make entry safe, and the whole area was just a mass of humanity.

That was a regular occurrence! And now it’s just empty. Regent Street is often closed to traffic before Christmas and the street is absolutely full of just people.

We had been away from England for about 15 years, and were shocked at how incredibly busy London had become. Really contrast with the eerie ness of your shot.

Good photo and one to keep for the history books

Wow, that IS different, isn’t it? I’d actually enjoy being on city streets with only a few people, but not because of Covid. Wonderful light in this shot.

I did enjoy the wander – so much easier to see things. You wouldn’t normally see the shadows across The road on Regent Street because of the traffic. And it’s hard to even walk down the pavement. Whereas this week, I stopped and changed filters on my camera, then beatdown close to the road to take the photo. Would have been impossible on a more normal day.

NOT London as we know it…..

No, but it is a great way to see London from the outside. There was no shortage of coffee and takeaway food either!

Yes, sad to see so much closed, but also encouraging to see so many food and drink places working away and plenty of Delveroo cyclists distributing their offerings.

I would say London is a tad bit bigger than Canby LOL Beautiful lighting on your photos for this week. Thanks Debbie 😀

Ha ha! I guess so, but London is really a lot of small towns joined together, each one very different. I’m not using tube, bus or taxi at the moment so I had a lot of miles to cover. It was very different deciding which parts I wanted to visit in one day. So I went for Brutalist Barbican; quirky, arty Shoreditch; empty City; shoppers’ Oxford Street; posher shoppers’ Regent Street; nightlife Soho; writers’ Bloomsbury. About 13 miles. 🙂

Not a very usual scene for London.

It has been like this a lot in the last 12 months, but we’ll see things coming back to life in the next couple of months. Weekdays may remain quiet for a long time though
