Gnarled and mighty

“Gnarled and mighty” is the way the Woodland Trust describes the hornbeam, a tree that can live 300 years and provides home and shelter to many. I love its spring show of ridged green leaves and delicate catkins and Kew is the perfect place to indulge in this enjoyment.
