That is so hard to imagine these days. You can see where gaps in rows of buildings have been filled in post-war, but unless you give it some thought it would be very easy to forget the damage that was caused.
Absolutely! I hadn’t put on appropriate footwear mind you. People hadn’t quite stretched to beach towels but there were plenty of people digging. And Inka was happy to join in!
Think I probably hit it at the peak of low tide. Guess that’s not the right word. The trough of low tide?
I’m paying more attention at the moment as Inka loves digging on the beach and this is my closest!! He’d be very disappointed if we arrived at high tide.

How things have changed. I grew up in the fifties and sixties in London and it was mostly still ruins from the war days.
