We were lucky enough to visit Mexico city 2 years ago – just pre-covid – and immersed ourselves in the Kahlo/ Rivera story for a few days ….

I enjoyed seeing this mural of Frida Kahlo. She is such an icon in the art world, yet I had never heard of her until a few years ago. Whoever drew her, did a great job, Debbie. You find incredible murals, dear.

Frieda Kahlo is a mixed bag for me – I think I like her as a person, but her paintings not so much. (but who know what people will say about me in a few decades:))
Here is one of my watercolors of last year.

Oh art is so objective, all artists have those who love and those who hate, those who just don’t get it, those who gel instantly with the work

Debbie, you mentioned about art: those who just don’t get it – smile, there are many here who fall in that category:)

Isn’t it amazing how many reproductions of Frida there are around these days. Since Christmas I’ve had two cushions, a mug, a ‘heritage’ plate, a tea-towel and a notebook, all decorated with the instantly recognizable face of Frida. Maybe that’s why there is so much of it around.

I think her bright and easily recognisable appearance helps. I also think her life and the issues she dealt with fit well with life these days – she broke rules and fought both health issues and disapproval of lifestyle and opinions.

Yes, it has a great annual festival, and much of the work is still there to be seen.

Should be quite easy to get around but I don’t know it well enough to say. It would be easy to book a local guide though who could show you around the art and help with any physical difficulties.
