Goodwin Sands is a 10 mile long sand bank, on top of chalk, lying about 6 miles off the coast. Positioned close to major shipping routes it has caused many a shipwreck. Over 2,000 ships have been caught by this geographic feature, and it has made appearances in a number of books and films, from Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice and King John, to Moonraker and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The sand bank has also been a popular location for cricket, and even the odd game of bowls and football.

ah cricket in the middle of the sea – they do that off the Isle of Wight too – hilarious to see as you travel past on the catamaran!

Interesting Harbormaster’s office – and two doors in one capture! It reminds me on that in Holland there were in the past houses of the one who opens and closes a bridge. How the world changes in one generation!

Of course you don’t know this, but in March 2020 we had downsized and were ready to take a trip to Europe, to see if we could adjust back to Holland, and next thing we know Covid hit! I tried, lol:)

Oh dear, that would have been a huge step. Covid has destroyed so many things – lost lives, lost freedom, lost contact.
But that plus Putin, teaches us to seize the moment!

It was not covid as much as the unbridled fear it caused (in many aspects and groups of people). It was like many have been unhinged since then in the US, not to mention this new government.
