Six months, six lists, six books

Jo the Book Jotter’s Six in Six 2024 challenge invites us to create six lists of six books to show some of our favourite books from the first six months of the year (and maybe a few that we still plan to read). With sixes galore, this challenge is just perfect for our six-word Saturday.

So here we go with my six lists of six. If you remember my 2023 Six in Six post, some of the same themes are still influencing my reading.

Published in UK in 2024:

The Silence In Between – hardback published June 2024
Hitler, Stalin, Mum & Dad – paperback published June 2024
French Windows (Dangereusement Douce) – English hardback published June 2024
Wandering Souls – paperback published January 2024
Kala – paperback published July 2024
Butter – paperback published February 2024.

Books set in Japan:

Japanese poetry and lots of haiku:

France:

Books I had read previously, and then saw performed this year.
– left to right, top to bottom: film, stage, stage, tv, film, tv:

The books behind these shows are pretty obvious, but I should point out that the Little Women I watched this year was a Korean version and only vaguely inspired by the classic, and Les delices de Tokyo is Sweet Bean Paste in English, but I watched it on an Air France flight to Tokyo so it was in Japanese with French subtitles!

My favourite reads so far this year.

Now over to all of you. Do come and join us in our Saturday six-word musings.

I’ll admit that many of us openly break the numeric rule and share far more words (all excellent of course!) so the key rule is to have a title of six words – and then create around that the post that you desire! Perhaps in bunches of 6 words if you’re feeling inspired.

To join the challenge, please put a link in your post to the URL of this post. Then come back here and leave us a comment. If you have any problems with linking, just put your own URL into the comment. And do feel free to socialise digitally with the hashtags #SixWordSaturday and #6WS. • Not entirely predictable. My eyes zoomed first to the classic wooden staircase, and felt at home, and then I peeped outside and it was Spain! Excellent shot
