Statue of Lange Wapper outside Het Steen castle, Antwerp, June 2026
This statue shows the Flemish folkloric character, Lange Wapper. Tales of this man date back as far as the 16th century, a man who used his ability to change his size at will to taunt and cajole people. Whilst some stories show him trying to impose order on the streets by encouraging drunks to go home, other stories tell of taunting the general public, including children.
