Twin Reflections

aDSC04635c

These two Hamerkops (Scopus umbretta) stand reflected in the waters of the Okavango Delta in Botswana.

These dull-brown birds have a number of other common names, mostly relating to the shape of their head with curving bill and crest to the rear, such as Hammerhead and Anvil Head.  They are common in wet areas of Africa, including estuaries, ponds and river banks.
