-Look Up, Look Down Challenge, Week 103
Most Thursdays, I publish a post containing photos taken from above or below, and invite you to join in the challenge by posting your own images with an up or down perspective.

There’s a new piece of art hanging up high in St Pancras Station. It is the latest piece in the Terrace Wires series, this time presented in collaboration with the Royal Academy. One More Time is an almost replica of the familiar white and gold clock that hangs in the station, facing the Eurostar platforms. The art clock is black and silver, resembling a negative of the original, and hangs 16 metres in front of the real thing. As you move around the station, the relative positions of the two time pieces appear to change so
that the replica clock eventually eclipses its inspiration.

This latest work is by British artist Cornelia Parker in collaboration with Dent, the manufacturers of both the real St Pancras clock and of “Big Ben”.

The artist said of the work, “The clock is the most conscious focus of a railway station, a dominant force. Everyone is watching the clock, checking if they are late. The piece will introduce the idea of a parallel frame of reference, that of a slower astronomical time.”

Lovely pictures, and I’ll bet it’s fascinating to walk around watching the illusion.

a simple but clever idea the best view would be from the Eurostar platforms but I haven’t had cause to be up there recently.

Very interesting! It inspired me of my post because it also got two clocks.
