Ornate Ortaköy

I’ve had a great travelling adventure this year and my favourite new city has to be Istanbul.  Ornate mosques, beautiful waterways, great food and the friendliest people  all mean that I left with sadness and am keen to get back there very soon.

I particularly like the combination view of Ortaköy Mosque and the more modern bridge, which is available from land and from boat.

This mid-nineteenth century mosque is much smaller than many of the well known  Istanbul mosques.  Its decorated columns and multiple windows make it very attractive and its compact size make this whole area feel real and less touristy.
