Whenever I’m in Edinburgh I find it hard to resist a stroll up and around Calton Hill. Today I joined a guided photography walk, which slanted perfectly toward my penchants – we started up on Calton Hill and went to plenty of my other favourite spots.
James Christie, the photographer leading the tour, was full of fascinating local stories and historical facts, plus photography facts and tips. But on top of that, he showed us places to get brilliant views of a variety of aspects of this city. I’ll be going back to plenty of these places to enjoy the views as the weather and lighting change.

A lot of the photography bit was for beginners but interesting to hear his approach and get a different view on possible settings. The viewpoints was very useful and I will definitely use them again. He also does a private night session, which sounds fascinating – but expensive.

This was a brilliant idea, Debbie. He is really showing you marvelous vantage points, not that I know the place, but I don’t remember seeing this view of Edinburgh before. It looks really classy in B&W. I’m honoured that you have linked. Thank you. 🙂

About ten times a year. Maybe more. I have friends there and a flat I can borrow!
