This shocking piece of street art up high on the walls of Manchester’s Northern Quarter is the work of Buenos Aires-born artist Hyuro. She took on the theme of ‘children of war’ as part of the Cities of Hope exhibition that took place in May 2016. She depicts the effects of conflict on children in a successfully horrifying manner. Like certainly isn’t a good word for this. But I think it’s important that people see it and understand. Children don’t need too much scary detail but they do need to learn about the world. And they often understand better than us adults.

Very sad. We sometimes forget about this dreadful aspect of war, where children are drawn into it in the most horrifying way.
