A colourful note:  this shade of hot magenta was formulated by Crayola in 1990.  To add some colour confusion , there had been a Hot Magenta Fluorescent crayon in their offerings since 1972, albeit a slightly different shade to the current version.  In 1990, Hot Magenta Fluorescent took on a new name, and a new shade intervenes to take on the name of Hot Magenta.
