Curvy antlers

Impala in Tanzania, January 2018

This impala happily turned to the camera to flaunt his impressive ridged horns. Only the males sport these lyre-shaped horns, that are used to prove the dominance. The shape allows them to intertwine the horns when fighting and use them to toss the opponent away.

The pair were also happy to show off their stripy rear end, the attribute that has earned them the nickname of McDonalds, or “fast food for lions”.
