Is there a sixpence in her shoe?

Lisa and Jordan got married on 9 August 2019

“Something old,
something new,
something borrowed,
something blue,
and a sixpence in her shoe.”

Old, new, borrowed and blue are believed to bring good luck to the wedded couple, a saying that has links back to ancient traditions and beliefs. The painful sixpence in the shoe was added by the Victorians.

I’m not sure about the sixpence, but I’m pretty sure the other good luck items are in place for both Lisa and Jordan. The shoes look quite old; the sign has been created new for them; the faces are effectively images borrowed from the owners; and there is definitely blue in the clothing.

  1. What a great announcement.
My mother, sister, myself and my daughter all had the same sixpence in our shoe on our respective wedding days. It’s become a family tradition.
